The Blame Game

We have all probably been guilty at some point in our lives when we point the finger and blame someone for our hurt, misfortune, anger, guilt, etc.! We've also heard the term...when you point the finger, there are three pointing back at you. This is so true. Blaming others never really settles the issue and we are often times still left with the same hurtful feelings. Throwing blame on others keeps us from taking responsibility for our own actions. Taking responsibility for our actions and owning them,  frees us from our own imprisonment of bitterness. We are able to stand firmly on both feet, admit our mistake and move on. We don't get to choose every circumstance that happens to us in life, but we do get to choose how we react to each of them.

Below are a few quotes on blaming

The best years of your life are the ones in which you decide your problems are your own.  You do not blame them on your mother, the ecology, or the president.  You realize that you control your own destiny.
Albert Ellis

If you could kick the person in the pants responsible for most of your trouble, you wouldn't sit for a month
Unknown

All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him, it will not change you
Wayne Dyer

Mistakes fail in their mission of helping the person who blames them on the other fellow.
Henry S. Haskins

When a man points a finger at someone else, he should remember that four of his fingers are pointing at himself.
Louis Nizer

When we blame, we give away our power to change, to take full responsibility for our thoughts and actions. We feel that something or someone has 'caused' us to act a certain way. In doing so, we are unable to create an experience where we embrace our failures, our mistakes, our negative thoughts, really OWN them and make a conscious choice to change the next circumstance, when we face it.
Learn from yourself. Notice your shortcomings and be courageous enough and completely honest with yourself about who is responsible for your thoughts, actions and reactions
