Easter egg shell candles

When coloring eggs this Easter, why not decorate the dinner table and around the house with very cute egg shell candles. They are so easy to make and can add a unique style to your home anytime of the year.
Aren't these pretty?

What you will need:

  • Egg shells
  • Egg cups to use as the base
  • (can be purchased really cheap from Amazon)
  • Food coloring
  • Egg carton
  • Warm and hot wax or
  • Tea light candles
Directions:

  1. Carefully make a hole in the top of each egg with a pin
  2. Enlarge the holes, and pour out the yolks
  3. (store yolks in container for later use)
  4. Gently clean the shells - Let dry
  5. Now it's time for the dye - Choose your colors and begin dyeing
  6. (Follow package instructions)
  7. Place them in the egg carton and let dry

  8. Cut wire-core wicks to about 4 inches long
  9. Flatten one end and fasten in shell with a bit of warm wax.
  10. Using a funnel, fill shells with hot wax. Let cool.
  11. Trim the wicks, and light.

If you are not sure about experimenting with the wax, a quick and simple alternative to filling the eggs, would be to use tea light candles - find the scented ones, and add a sweet aroma into the air.
(Make sure the hole is big enough to insert the tea light candle into the shell)
